As a romance writer, I’m always interested in how people meet. I must admit as a girl I dreamed of meeting my Mr. Right at a dance. I envisioned him sweeping me onto to the dance floor, wrapping me in his arms and gazing into each others eyes. Sound familiar… a little like Cinderella, maybe a LOT like Cinderella.
Meeting my Mr. Right went nothing like that in real life. I lived in a very small town where there was a very small trucking company. He started working there. I noticed him, He noticed me. A mutual acquaintance introduced us.
Not quite the kismet meetings found in some romance stories. Maybe because of my personal experience when I write I like to keep the first meeting realistic, interested with a hint of attraction. As my story unfolds the attraction grows into real feelings of love.
That is why inspirational romances draw me as a reader and writer, attraction turns to genuine caring and the caring deepens into the kind of love that God intended for His children.
Of course, all couples have to meet before they begin their journey together…would you care to share your story with me by leaving a comment?

Isn't it so true how real-life romances rarely stand out the way our stories do =) We met on a car lot when my hubby sold me a Camry. Everyone used to tease him after that, saying he'd better have given me a good deal because he was paying for it now!
Hi Georgiana,
I think that would make a great meeting in a romance novel! And some conflict too if the car turned out to be a "lemon"!

I don't actually remember my very first meeting with my husband. He moved to my hometown when we were in high school. I thought he was pretty cute, but I had a steady boyfriend. We didn't date until years later, after high school and college.
Hi Kara,
That's how my Mom & Dad were. They grew up in the same town and just always knew each other.

PS Looking forward to the 23rd!
My hubby and I met when we worked for the same company. :-)
Great post!

I met my husband when I took a second job while in college. It was at a Christian bookstore back in CA. He was the books department manger. Two months later we were engaged. And 13 months after that we were married. ;)
